Sesquicentennial Marker for Black Alumni in Development

As Virginia Tech continues to celebrate its sesquicentennial anniversary - the Black Alumni Society and the Virginia Tech Black Cultural Society are coming together to honor Black alumni history with a new sesquicentennial marker.

The marker will be unveiled during the Black Alumni Reunion April 14-16, 2023. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of Mr. Irving Peddrew's enrollment at Virginia Tech as its first black student.

The new marker is dedicated to our ALUMNI experience and not our student experience. We need your help to suggest content that best reflects our collective group of 10,000+ alumni.

Please share your thoughts via this survey by Nov. 12. https://forms.wix.com/r/6972329181883400667

The Council on Virginia Tech History was charged to create seven historical markers for campus. The markers cover a range of topics and populations. INFO: https://vtx.vt.edu/content/vtx_vt_edu/en/articles/2022/06/unirel-historicmarkers.html.
